About Skyline

Skyline Investments Inc. (“Skyline”) is a Canadian investment and management company incorporated on December 4, 1998. Mishorim Development Inc. is the controlling shareholder of the Company, and Skyline and Mishorim are traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (MSHR, SKLN.TA). Altogether, more than 15 years later, Skyline can claim assets totalling approximately $500M including significant cash-flow properties such as Deerhurst and the Hyatt Renaissance, and over 4000 acres of development land.

Winner of Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies award two years in a row (2013-14), today, Skyline is one of Ontario’s top players in hospitality properties with major expansions throughout Canada and the US. most notably Ontario and Cleveland. Skyline specialized in Real Estate investments with a focus on cash-flow producing properties including hotels, resorts, and destination communities. Furthermore, Skyline is an experienced real estate developer focusing on opportunities adjacent to its real estate investments and acquisitions.

Our Strategy

Skyline’s focus is on attracting and acquiring hotels, resorts and destination communities for development in North America. Post-2008, we saw an opportunity to buy independent resorts and hotels below value, an opportunity we have capitalized on by purchasing well-established properties in the US and Canada. Skyline’s approach to acquisition follows three guidelines.:

Mutually-beneficial development

We undertake development that both enhances the resort experience for guests and creates longer-term amenities for owners. SkyLife Club and Skyline Vacation Club link the various locations with benefits for purchasers like ski and golf memberships, upgraded accommodations, discounted stays and more.

The Skyline management team capitalizes on economies of scale to create much needed efficiencies and improve resort earnings. We find synergies in areas such as sales and marketing, public relations, purchasing and asset management to more effectively market our hotel and resort properties while improving profitability.

Development opportunities at each hotel and resort generate both immediate repayment of capital and long-term return on investment. In addition, each development project adds to the resort’s customer base. The ability to develop residential buildings using existing infrastructure gives Skyline a distinct cost advantage over stand-alone projects.

Our Team

Gil Blutrich Chairman & President

Since immigrating to Canada and establishing Skyline Investments in 1998, Gil Blutrich has helmed the company’s rapid emergence as an innovative real estate and hospitality firm specializing in destination communities by identifying and acquiring under leveraged assets.Gil established the Mishorim Group in 1989 and is still currently the Chairman of the company. In 2004, he was a recipient of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Blake D. Lyon Chief Executive Officer

Blake is a proven leader and joins Skyline with extensive experience in hotel, resort and commercial asset management in Canada and around the world. Blake was formerly the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Brookfield Asset Management, a position he held for five years. More recently, Blake has held senior executive and board positions in several large family offices and corporations, where he executed on investment transactions and asset management of real estate and other diversified assets.

Vadim Shub Chief Financial Officer

Vadim Shub has more than 15 years of public financial reporting experience. Prior to joining Skyline in 2007, Vadim headed finance departments for a number of divisions of a well-known Israeli publicly traded high-tech company as Controller and Finance Manager. He has also held management positions in tax and financial reporting within TSX and AMEX listed companies Cantar Polyair and subsidiaries of Shoppers Drug Mart.
