Cosmopolitan Hotel

In the heart of downtown Toronto’s cultural and financial district, nestled amid the city’s finest restaurants, shopping and entertainment centres, you will find the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Residences.

Situated within walking distance of some of Toronto’s most popular landmarks, the Cosmopolitan is also close to essential transportation hubs. Corporate headquarters for the many of the country’s largest financial institutions are literally steps away.

And yet, despite its proximity to the hustle and bustle of city life, the Cosmopolitan experience is as far removed from urban stress as possible. From the moment you enter the iconic green and violet-hued lobby, you are transported to an oasis of Zen. Upon checking in with the accommodating front desk staff, you are offered a choice of incense scents for your room, and the decompression process immediately begins. Whether you wish to begin your visit with a soothing massage treatment at the hotel’s five-star Shizen Spa (rated among the best in Toronto), a workout in the 24-hour fitness room, or just unwinding in your well-appointed suite, everything at the Cosmopolitan is geared toward your relaxation.

To increase the flow of oxygen and energy throughout the hotel, “energy consultant to the stars” Sylvia Noble (who has worked with celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ron Howard) was retained to dispense Feng Shui advice on every element of the building’s design and construction. From the handpicked street address, to the total number of doors on each floor, to the quantity of live bamboo plants and amount of gemstone amenities in each room, to the name of the upscale wine bar on the ground floor (Eight), nearly every aspect of the hotel’s design has been influenced by the number eight, which was chosen for its esoteric energy qualities and lucky connotation in many Eastern cultures. Adding to the focus on natural energies, floor-to-ceiling windows infuse every suite with light energy, deep brown and slate features provide a ‘ground’ for the energy, and soft blue accents exude calming energy.

The centrepiece of each suite is a natural bamboo and gemstone fountain designed by Noble. Fully seven feet tall, the fountain’s slate-coloured bamboo stalks and cherry wood branches radiate upward from a bed formed of new jade pieces, while trickling water gently cascades into the softly-lit base of the sculpture. The soothing soundtrack and dancing light combine to create a tranquil ambience that is perfect for open-eye meditation.

Contemporary yet timeless, the luxurious Cosmopolitan Toronto Hotel and Residences offers a serene atmosphere designed to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. All suites are finished with hardwood floors, ensuite kitchenettes and stacked laundry facilities, and come equipped with meditation mats, complimentary relaxation CDs, a 24-hour meditation channel, Zen-inspired bath products and air purifiers. An energy stone placed on your pillow during turn-down service perfectly complements the revitalizing experience.
